As an example of other things that can be done with the Toolkit modules, here is something that was part of an SK estate that I obtained last year. It is an 80m CW/SSB receiver that uses some hombrewed parts in addition to Toolkits.
The antenna connector is in the right-rear, and there is a tunable BPF in the right front corner. The VFO is a PTO device and tunes 6.0 - 6.5Mhz. The SA612 mixer is in the right-center. The signal then goes through a 10Mhz filter -> RF amp -> IF amp (interesting combo) -> TUF-1 Mixer (i.e., audio detector; left-rear). The tunable BFO (front with 160pf tune cap) outputs ~9.7 - 10Mhz to the mixer. From the mixer, the signal goes through a little preamp (middle-left) to the audio amp.
The BFO and VFO adjustments are very wide (i.e., not touchy) and the thing sounds great!
Anyway, I thought I'd share this in case it might give ideas to others.
