Thanks for the info and pics, looks nice. Where did you get those little socket pins? Usually I rip the pins out of round machine-pin sockets or headers for that purpose.

Sorry to take so long getting back to you. It took me a while to find the part number, They are Dip Sockets but different. The Newark part number is 65F1616 for a 16 pin socket. The pins come on an aluminum carrier that you pull after soldering the pins in They are a little expensive, like $5.88 each. Here's a link to a datasheet so you can see what they are.
